Part of our Cookbook Collection: inspired by two of my favorite cookbooks, Smitten Kitchen Keepers by Deb Perelman and How to Eataly by Mario Batali and Lidia Bastianich.

In Smitten Kitchen Keepers, Deb's summer strawberry stack cake contains a "staggering pound of fresh strawberries...(that) collapse into jammy puddles" once baked. I adore strawberries, and I've made this cake, and I can confirm that Deb is right as usual.

Inspired by those jammy puddles, Strawberry Cake is a juicy berry magenta with overtones of chocolate and silver that create depth and shadow, just like roasted berries.
