Part of our Cookbook Collection: inspired by two of my favorite cookbooks, Smitten Kitchen Keepers by Deb Perelman and How to Eataly by Mario Batali and Lidia Bastianich.
When flipping through How to Eataly to select images for this collection, I couldn't get these purple wine bottle labels out of my head 🤩 so meet DOCG! My little love note to Italian wine - Italy is where I learned to drink and appreciate wine, and I'm still partial to those varieties 💜 DOCG stands for Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita, meaning "guaranteed and controlled origin" - most Italian wines (and many foods!) are regionally distinct, and the DOCG label (and the less-restrictive DOC) protect for the regional characteristics, processes, and quality that make them special.
Our DOCG is a juicy, cool-toned violet that leans slightly blue but has rosy undertones. She's cool and classic, and versatile enough to play bright and funky or smooth and sophisticated 🍷
